Congratulations!!! Seussical the Musical Nominated for 9 Betty Buckley Awards

 

 

 

 

Seussical the Musical, the Birdville High School 2008 musical, has been nominated for nine Betty Lynn Buckley Awards.  The winners of these prestigious awards will be announced at a show and awards ceremony on May 22, 2008 at Casa Manana.  The awards were started eight years ago by Casa Manana Theatre to encourage high school excellence in musical theatre productions.  The competition, open to all Tarrant County high schools, had 18 entrants this year.  BHS’s Seussical the Musical is one of six high schools that was nominated for Best Musical.  Any individual student winners will receive a $500 scholarship.  Birdville High School theatre will be required to perform a number from the musical at the awards show on May 22 due to the nomination as best musical.

All 2008 Birdville High School Betty Lynn Buckley award nominees are:

• Exellence in Choreography:  AK Koeneke – “Monkey Around”
• Best Female Actress:  Jessica Taylor – “Gertrude”
• Best Supporting Actress:  Brie Kelly – “Mayzie”
• Best Male Ensemble Performer:  Deon Ford- “Fish”
• Best Female Ensemble Performer:  Taylor Heaton – Ensemble
• Best Female Ensemble Performer: Bree Hembry – “Birdgirl”
